The design of this instrument is simple and not overly decorated. I chose a simple design for the rosette and headstock, without losing all the little details that give a guitar its beauty.
The shape of this instrument was designed in early 2010, and it is based on my first steel string guitar I built back in 2003. I have also implemented the design of my recent classical guitars.
The body is rather shallow and wedge-shaped, a design I have used since I started making guitars in 2002. It might seem small at first glance, but as many people say to me after they play the instrument: it has the power and projection of a large body.
A little unconventional touch is the addition of carbon rods between the headblock and the tailblock. The intention is to stiffen up the rim of the instrument, so that the top is carrying less of the structural load. This should allow it to use its potential more effectively for vibration and sound, versus having part of the string energy dissipate from the top into an overly flexible body.
